The history of Barat College is situated within the framework of the educational philosophy of the Society of the Sacred Heart. This history describes the life cycle of Barat College: how the Religious of the Sacred Heart, in collaboration with decades of devoted lay faculty, administrators, and trustees, along with generations of students, alumnae and alumni, friends and benefactors, brought to birth a college that emphasized the education of women, nurtured it, achieved its maturation, responded responsibly to its decline, and still preserve its legacy and spirit.
